Living Values Parent Groups: A Facilitator Guide

Dear Parents,

Greetings of peace. We know you love your children and are interested in exploring and developing values. You are the most important teachers of all.

While we have a Facilitator Guide for Living Values Parents Groups we do not have a separate book for parents at this time. However, as some of you have been requesting information, we will be happy to share segments from that book with you.

Children Learn What They Live
by Dorthy Law Nolte

If a child lives with  criticism, he learns to condemn
hostility, he learns to fight
fear, he learns to be apprehensive
pity, he learns to feel sorry for himself
ridicule, he learns to be shy
jealousy, he learns to be envious
shame, he learns to feel guilty
encouragement, he learns to be confident
tolerance, he learns to be patient
praise, he learns to be appreciative
approval, he learns to like himself
recognition, he learns that it is good to have a goal
sharing, he learns generosity
honesty and fairness, he learns truth and justice
security, he learns to have inner faith
friendliness, he learns the world is a nice place to live
serenity, your child will live with peace of mind.

Living Values Education welcomes your suggestions and invites participation at all levels. When viewed as an ongoing process, values-based education becomes part of a lifelong learning experience. Many opportunities can be found to integrate values-based education into existing curricula. These will vary from place to place according to cultural needs. It is in the spirit of cooperation that the Program was founded, recognizing we learn from one another. We would like to thank all those who have contributed their time and energy to the Program.
